Southern African nations advance governance and development initiatives

Various regional developments are underway across Southern Africa involving governance, humanitarian aid, and infrastructure.

In Mozambique, the Ministry of Finance is conducting consultations for the MozProspera programme, which aims to strengthen public administration and fiscal management through results-based financing. Additionally, humanitarian efforts continue in Cabo Delgado, where UN Women and KOICA are working to support the socioeconomic resilience of women affected by conflict. In the Palma district, UNICEF and the Azul Foundation have provided vocational training and equipment to over 1,000 youth to foster economic independence.

In Angola, the government is implementing stricter oversight and transparency requirements for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to ensure accountability in resource mobilization and service delivery.

In Namibia, regional council reports presented to the National Council highlighted significant development gaps. The Zambezi and ||Karas regions reported challenges including inadequate transport infrastructure, healthcare shortages, poverty, and administrative bottlenecks that delay essential projects.
