UN Women to release 2026 Gender Snapshot report at UN General Assembly

UN Women and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) will present the Gender Snapshot 2026 report on September 17, 2026, during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

The report, which serves as a primary global data source for gender equality and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, indicates that progress in women's political and social leadership has stalled globally. In many nations, there has been a regression in women's access to various levels of power.

UN Women is calling for urgent multilateral action, stating that peace, development, and human rights cannot be achieved without equitable access to decision-making roles for women and girls. The report release precedes the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly, which begins on September 22, 2026.
