UNACH and USAC graduate first doctoral students from joint program
The Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas (UNACH) and the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC) have celebrated the graduation of the first doctoral students from their collaborative academic program. Andrea del Alva Orozco Godínez and Lorena Araceli Romero Payes became the first graduates under this cooperation scheme, representing the Doctorate in Regional Studies at UNACH and the Doctorate in Territorial Development and Transboundary Problems at USAC.
This achievement is part of the Quetzal Program and a specific collaboration agreement signed in 2025. The initiative aims to foster researcher training and expand academic specialization opportunities in the region. The program involves articulated curricula, joint research, and the participation of specialists from both universities in doctoral synods to address social, economic, and cultural phenomena that transcend national borders.
