Unai Simón, Nico Williams, and Aymeric Laporte received a standing ovation at San Mamés stadium during a pre-match ceremony before Athletic Club’s La Liga fixture against Sevilla. The trio appeared alongside the FIFA World Cup trophy, marking their first appearance at their home ground since Spain’s victory in the tournament.

During the ceremony, Spain’s national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, was also recognized. The event included a moment of silence for former Athletic Club goalkeeper Carmelo Cedrún. The return of the players follows a compressed pre-season schedule necessitated by the summer World Cup.
