UNAM's PROSAM hosts mental health workshop for students

The Mental Health Program for the Community of the Faculty of Medicine at UNAM (PROSAM) held a workshop titled “How to survive departmental exams with a broken heart? Tools to face a breakup and care for your academic performance.” The event, held on October 1, was designed to provide a safe space for health science students managing grief or emotional loss during high-pressure academic periods.

During the session, medical intern Rebeca Citlali Rodríguez González explained that grief is a natural response to the loss of a significant bond, manifesting through emotions such as sadness, anger, guilt, or anxiety, as well as physical symptoms like fatigue and changes in sleep or appetite. The workshop emphasized the importance of validating emotions to maintain academic performance while navigating personal loss.
