Unanue receives new mobile signal via EMPATEL and Claro partnership
The town of Unanue in La Pampa, Argentina, has gained mobile phone service following the activation of a new telecommunications tower. The project was completed through an agreement between the Empresa Pampeana de Telecomunicaciones (EMPATEL) and the telecommunications company Claro.
The new infrastructure provides coverage to the urban area, rural sectors, and a section of National Route 35. This expansion is intended to improve communications for local residents, support productive activities, and facilitate contact with emergency services.
Under the public-private partnership model, EMPATEL financed and constructed the passive infrastructure, including the tower and fiber optic cabling, while Claro provided and installed the active equipment required to broadcast the signal. The initiative aims to extend mobile internet to areas with lower population densities and eliminate signal dead zones along provincial road corridors.
