Unazuki residence and shop destroyed by fire

A fire destroyed a two-story wooden residence and shop in Unazuki-machi, Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture, on the morning of August 19. The fire, which broke out around 10:45 AM, consumed approximately 190 square meters of the building, which served as both a home and an appliance store.

Two residents were inside the building at the time of the fire but managed to evacuate safely without injury. The flames spread to three neighboring buildings before being extinguished by approximately 20 fire department vehicles about three hours later. The incident caused temporary disruptions to the Toyama Chihō Railway, with service suspended between Urayama and Unazuki Onsen stations for about an hour.

Police and fire officials are scheduled to conduct an on-site investigation on August 20 to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage to the surrounding structures.
