UNC and NC State to play non-conference basketball in Greensboro

The University of North Carolina and NC State will face each other in a non-conference men's basketball game on December 15, 2026. The matchup, titled the Tobacco Road Classic, will take place at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro.

This marks the first time since 1979 that the two programs have met in a non-conference regular-season game. The announcement was made during a press conference featuring UNC coach Michael Malone and NC State coach Justin Gainey. The series between the two teams dates back to 1920, and the teams are also scheduled to return to Greensboro for a second Tobacco Road Classic during the 2027-28 season.
