UNC women's athletics report mixed results in soccer, field hockey, and tennis
The University of North Carolina (UNC) athletic programs saw mixed results across several women's sports recently.
In field hockey, No. 5 UNC suffered a 5-4 overtime loss to No. 20 Old Dominion. Despite holding three-goal leads at two different points in the match, the Tar Heels conceded four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter and overtime.
The women's soccer team opened ACC play with a 3-0 shutout victory against Cal. Bella Devey scored the opening goal in the 10th minute, followed by an own goal and a third goal from Izzi Stratton. Freshman goalkeeper Peyton Trayer recorded her fifth clean sheet of the season.
In women's tennis, the Tar Heels began their fall season with strong performances in two tournaments. At the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, the team secured 10 singles wins and eight doubles wins across various matches, including undefeated performances from the duos of Nicole Khirin/Tatum Evans and Maddy Zampardo/Susanna Maltby.
