UNC women's soccer Fairfield Stags college soccer ACC preseason poll season opener

The No. 8 ranked University of North Carolina women's soccer team will host Fairfield University for their season opener this Thursday at Dorrance Field. The 7 p.m. kickoff marks the first historical meeting between the Tar Heels and the Stags.

UNC enters the season with a highly-rated recruiting class, ranked No. 1 nationally, which includes 12 freshmen and three transfers. The team also features several players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, including Summer Denigan and Izzi Stratton. Due to U-17 Women's National Team training camp commitments, Amari Manning and Deus Stanislaus will be unavailable for the first two matches of the season.

Fairfield arrives following a strong offensive season where they ranked seventh nationally in scoring with 49 goals. Both programs have integrated significant new talent into their rosters for the 2026 campaign.
