UNCAUS says foreign students will not be charged tuition amid national university funding debate

The Universidad Nacional del Chaco Austral (UNCAUS) clarified that it will not charge tuition to foreign students. Of its more than 20,000 enrollees, only about 260 are foreigners—200 with permanent residence and 60 with temporary residence—who already receive the same free education as Argentine citizens. Secretary Academic Manuel Ricardone explained that the requirements for foreign students are a passport and proof of residence, and that charging fees would have little impact on the university. This stance comes after President Javier Milei’s decree allowing public universities to levy fees on foreign students without permanent residency.

Separately, UNCAUS was honored with the Order of Quebracho by the Rotary Club for its community work. Pharmacist Néstor Dudik received the award on behalf of the university, highlighting the Camión Sanitario health service and vaccination program that involve dozens of faculty and students in serving Chaco communities.
