Uncem warns of significant funding cuts to Italy's Mountain Fund
Marco Bussone, the national president of Uncem, has expressed significant concern regarding the sharp decline in resources allocated to the Mountain Fund. According to Bussone, funding for regions is set to drop to 86 million euros for 2025 and 70 million euros for 2026, a substantial decrease compared to the 200 million euros allocated annually in 2023 and 2024.
The reduction is reportedly linked to political decisions to use these funds to cover financial incentives through tax credits, for which implementing decrees are still missing. Bussone warned that without proper implementation of the law, this could result in a permanent cut to regional funding. He called on political forces to restore the fund to 200 million euros per year and urged both the government to avoid cuts and regions to invest appropriately in mountain areas.
