UNCF President Michael L. Lomax to Step Down in June 2027 after 22 Years
United Negro College Fund (UNCF) President and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax announced he will conclude his tenure in June 2027, ending a 22‑year leadership period that began in 2004. Board Chair Milton H. Jones, Jr. highlighted a long‑planned succession process to maintain the organization’s momentum.
During Lomax’s tenure UNCF raised more than $4 billion, supported over 300,000 students, expanded scholarship programs to more than 600 colleges—including 36 member HBCUs—and grew its endowment from $60 million to over $500 million, with a target of $600 million. Lomax said he will remain active through the transition and plans to return to teaching after his departure.
