UNCUYO to transform historic Casa Bombal into cultural center
The Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (UNCUYO) has launched a project to restore and transform the historic Casa Bombal in Mendoza into a community cultural center. Located at Lavalle 373, the building served as the university's School of Music until 2010, when operations moved to the university campus due to infrastructure and acoustic limitations.
The historic residence, a French-style petit hotel built in the 1920s, has remained inactive for over a decade and currently suffers from vandalism. The restoration initiative involves the faculties of Arts and Design, Engineering, and Architecture, which will provide technical expertise to recover the structure.
UNCUYO Rector Adriana García noted that the project's primary obstacle is securing necessary funding. The university intends to seek financial support from private companies and international organizations to complete the works and reopen the space to the public.
