Underpass in Brasília vandalized one day after renovation

An underpass at 107/108 Norte in Plano Piloto was vandalized with spray paint just one day after its renovation was completed by the Companhia Urbanizadora da Nova Capital do Brasil (Novacap). The structure, which was handed over to the Plano Piloto Regional Administration on Tuesday (27), was found on Wednesday (28) covered in red, blue, and green graffiti on walls, stairs, and access ramps.

The renovation project included repairing floors and walls, replacing rainwater drainage grates, installing metal handrails, and applying epoxy and acrylic paints. It also involved skylight maintenance and lighting replacement. Each underpass renovation costs an average of approximately R$ 350,000.

Due to the vandalism, additional public funds will be required to clean the surfaces and repaint the affected areas. The incident occurs as the Federal District Legislative Chamber (CLDF) considers a bill that would impose administrative sanctions and fines of up to R$ 100,000 on those responsible for damaging public property.
