UNDP AltFinLab launches 2026 SDG Blockchain Accelerator

The UNDP Alternative Finance Lab (AltFinLab) has launched an open call for the third edition of the SDG Blockchain Accelerator. The initiative invites UNDP Country Offices and other UN entities to submit development challenges linked to active programs by September 30, 2026.

The program aims to connect UN teams facing concrete development hurdles with technology partners to develop and scale solutions using blockchain, decentralized AI, and cloud technologies. The 2026 edition will feature two distinct technology tracks: blockchain and decentralized AI & cloud. Key focus areas include digital payments, identity management, supply chain traceability, and data privacy.

AltFinLab leads the accelerator in strategic partnership with the Blockchain for Good Alliance, alongside partners including the Cardano Foundation, Stellar Development Foundation, Partisia Foundation, DFINITY Foundation, and FLock.io. Previous cohorts have produced 46 implementation-ready solutions, with 70% of those being embedded into national or regional programs. Following the application window, selected teams will enter a five-month acceleration phase from October 2026 to February 2027 to refine their solutions with input from UN practitioners.
