UNDP provides technical assistance for earthquake reconstruction in Risaralda
Experts from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are providing technical assistance to the Risaralda government and the municipality of Dosquebradas to develop a Specific Action Plan (PAE) following a recent earthquake.
In Dosquebradas, the damage assessment includes approximately 3,000 students unable to return to school and roughly 2,000 affected businesses. The reconstruction plan focuses on housing, education, infrastructure, economic reactivation, and social services. The municipality aims to deliver its Specific Action Plan by September 30, 2026.
At the departmental level, the Risaralda government is working with the UNDP and the Chamber of Commerce of Pereira to quantify damages and request aid. Economic concerns are significant, with the Chamber of Commerce of Pereira estimating that approximately 7,000 jobs are at risk during the month of September.
