UNE launches “Estudantes com Lula” campaign to mobilize students

The National Union of Students (UNE) has launched the “Estudantes com Lula” campaign to support President Lula’s reelection in the upcoming second round of elections. The organization is calling for nationwide mobilizations to defend democracy, education, and the country's future.

As part of the campaign, the UNE is reviving the “caras-pintadas” symbol—a reference to the 1990s student protests—by encouraging participants to paint their faces in green and yellow. The entity aims to reclaim these national colors from political misappropriation, asserting that they belong to the Brazilian people rather than any specific government.

Scheduled mobilizations include actions at universities, public squares, and transit hubs between October 20 and 24. A major event is planned for Saturday at MASP in São Paulo, featuring President Lula.
