UNE updates air conditioning hygiene standards

The Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE) has released a new version of the UNE 100012:2026 standard, which focuses on the hygiene of air conditioning systems. This updated version replaces the previous edition from 2005.

The new standard establishes technical requirements, procedures, and competencies for both the entities and the technical personnel involved in the evaluation and cleaning processes of air conditioning systems. It aims to identify specific technical capabilities, experience, and procedures required for each stage of the hygiene process.

Developed by the UNE Air Conditioning Committee (CTN-UNE 100) and its Working Group 10, the document was created in coordination with the update to the UNE 171330 standard regarding indoor environmental quality. The drafting process involved various industry experts and organizations, including AFEC, ATECYR, ANECPLA, and Saint Gobain, to ensure compliance with safety, efficiency, and sustainability in building design.
