Uneac announces literary awards and new university partnership

The Provincial Committee of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) and the University of Granma are establishing a collaboration agreement. The signing is scheduled to take place during the 32nd edition of the Fiesta de la Cubanía, held from October 17 to 20. The partnership aims to facilitate professional development for creators, support research, and organize workshops, diplomas, and joint projects to strengthen Cuban cultural institutions.

Separately, the Uneac 2026 literary awards were announced in Havana. The awards, organized by the Association of Writers of Uneac, aim to stimulate literary creation in Cuba. Notable winners include Malena Salazar Maciá, who received the Ismaelillo Prize for children's and youth narrative for ‘Alma de colibrí’, and Raydel Ricardo Araoz Valdés, who won the Enrique José Varona Prize for Artistic Literary Essay for ‘Ojo de buey’.
