Uneba conference proposes evolving RSA facilities into multi-service community hubs
At the Uneba national conference in Brescia, titled ‘Care and Innovation,’ experts proposed a transformation of Residential Assisted Living facilities (RSA) into integrated multi-service centers. The goal is to shift from a reactive model to a proactive ‘welfare of initiative’ that supports elderly individuals within their own communities.
Carlo Nicora, Director General of Fondazione Molina, suggested that RSA expertise should extend into home care before residential placement becomes necessary. This approach views home assistance and residential care as interconnected parts of a single network rather than alternatives.
Uneba President Franco Massi emphasized that these facilities are evolving into multi-service centers to better serve territorial needs, particularly in mountainous and internal areas. The conference also highlighted the potential for these centers to host public community houses planned under the PNRR, noting that many of these planned structures have yet to open.
