Croatia and Bosnia record sharp unemployment drops amid mixed job market signals
In Croatia, the national employment office reported that by the end of June the number of registered unemployed fell to 59,423, a 15.2% decline from the previous year and the lowest level since records began. The same period saw 15,956 job vacancies advertised and a 6.6% reduction in job postings during the first half of the year. Earlier data also indicated a rise in overall employment, with 1,467,683 people employed in 2025 compared with 1,262,193 in 2024, a 16.3% increase.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the labour agency recorded 305,335 unemployed at the end of May, marking a 3.22% year‑on‑year drop and the first time the total fell below 306,000. The decline was observed across the Federation, Republika Srpska and Brčko District. Women comprised nearly 60% of the unemployed. During May, employers created 3,404 new jobs while 8,291 new job seekers registered, and 7,362 people left the unemployment register after finding work.
