Unemployment rates fluctuate across Finnish regions in July
Unemployment rates across several Finnish regions showed varied trends in July. In North Ostrobothnia and Kainuu, the number of job seekers reached 30,188, a 4% increase from the previous year, with youth unemployment rising by 16%.
South Karelia experienced a 7% year-on-year increase in unemployment, totaling nearly 8,200 job seekers. Youth unemployment in this region saw a significant 23% rise, though long-term unemployment slightly decreased, making it the only region in Finland to show such a decline.
In the Ostrobothnia and Central Ostrobothnia regions, a total of 10,385 job seekers were recorded. While Ostrobothnia maintained the lowest unemployment rate in mainland Finland at 8.2%, Central Ostrobothnia saw a 5.9% increase in unemployment compared to the previous year.
