Unemployment trends in Bihor and Prahova counties

Labor market data from the end of September 2026 shows specific unemployment trends in the Romanian counties of Bihor and Prahova.

In Bihor, the unemployment rate stood at 2.13% with 5,055 registered unemployed individuals. Of these, 2,688 are women. The largest age group among the unemployed is those over 55 years old, totaling 1,318 people. Education levels show that 33% of the unemployed have primary education, while only 8% hold higher education degrees. Additionally, 3,585 individuals reside in rural areas.

In Prahova, the unemployment rate reached 2.33% with 6,165 registered individuals. Women constitute the majority of the unemployed at 3,390. Similar to Bihor, the demographic is skewed toward older populations; individuals over 40 years old represent nearly 72% of the total, with those over 55 being the largest single group at 1,610 people. Approximately 66% of the unemployed in Prahova live in rural environments, and 69% have a middle school education level.
