UNESCO adds new sites to World Heritage List

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee has added 25 new sites to the World Heritage List. Among the notable additions are the Normandy Landing Beaches in France, specifically including areas like Colleville-Montgomery and Hermanville-sur-Mer. These sites are recognized for their universal historical significance regarding the liberation of Europe during World War II.

Other significant new additions include Mount Olympus in Greece, known for its mythological importance and natural landscapes, and two 19th-century Amazonian theaters in Brazil: the Amazonas Theatre in Manaus and the Theatro da Paz in Belém. These Brazilian theaters reflect the wealth of the rubber trade era and blend European classical models with regional decorative motifs.
