UNESCO adopts two unanimous resolutions regarding Palestine

The UNESCO Executive Board has unanimously adopted two resolutions regarding Palestine during its 225th session.

The first resolution addresses the impact of the current situation in the Gaza Strip and Palestine on all areas within UNESCO’s mandate, specifically education, science, culture, and communication and information. The second resolution focuses on supporting the continuity of educational activities conducted by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the occupied Palestinian territories.

During the session, Palestine’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Ambassador Adel Atiyeh, expressed appreciation for the unanimous decision. He highlighted the severe consequences of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, noting the impact on children and the educational system. Atiyeh warned that targeting UNRWA services constitutes a direct attempt to deprive Palestinian refugees of essential lifelines.
