UNESCO and ECLAC launch AI in education observatory for Latin America

A new United Nations platform is analyzing the role of artificial intelligence in education across Latin America and the Caribbean. During a regional meeting in Santiago, Chile, representatives from UNESCO and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) met with universities, research centers, and private sector partners to establish a common agenda.

The initiative aims to conduct research on AI-related policies within regional educational systems to facilitate evidence-based decision-making and shared ethical principles. Key upcoming objectives include the production of the first regional report, the expansion of competency platforms, and the strengthening of knowledge exchange networks to support educational development through 2027.
