UNESCO and Saudi Arabia celebrate International Intangible Cultural Heritage Day

UNESCO is celebrating the International Day for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, highlighting the importance of preserving living traditions, skills, and oral expressions passed down through generations. UNESCO Director-General Khaled Al-Anani noted that these evolving practices provide essential environmental knowledge and strengthen social bonds, offering spaces for dialogue between cultures.

In Saudi Arabia, the Al-Qassim region marked the occasion with the ‘Heritage Neighborhood’ event in Unayzah. Organized by the Unayzah Tourism Cooperative Association, the two-day festival featured various cultural stations, including falconry, Saudi coffee preparation, Arabic calligraphy, and traditional folk arts. The initiative aimed to introduce younger generations to ancestral customs and preserve the nation's cultural identity.
