UNESCO Biosphere Reserves launch international photography contest

The three UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) reserves in Emilia-Romagna—Appennino Tosco-Emiliano, Po Grande, and Delta del Po—have launched a new international photography competition titled ‘Donne & Biosfera: storie da raccontare’ (Women & Biosphere: stories to tell).

Supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region, the contest aims to highlight the role of women in biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, and sustainable community development. The competition is open to professional and amateur photographers worldwide and features three thematic categories: ‘L’acqua è Donna’ (Water is Woman), focusing on ecosystems; ‘La società è Donna’ (Society is Woman), focusing on social and cultural contributions; and ‘La professione è Donna’ (Profession is Woman), focusing on female entrepreneurship and scientific research.

Applications are open until January 20, 2027, with a total prize pool exceeding 5,000 euros.
