UNESCO Chair joins Global Media and Information Literacy Week
The UNESCO Chair in Communication, Media Literacy, and Citizenship (ESCS-UPL / LIACOM) has joined the 2026 Global Media and Information Literacy Week. The initiative, held annually from October 24 to 31, aims to mobilize global actors to raise awareness regarding the importance of media literacy and celebrate progress in the field.
The theme for this edition is “We All Play a Part – Media and Information Literacy for the People,” emphasizing the collective responsibility to build healthier information and communication environments. The agenda includes activities focused on the role of media, critical thinking, professional training, and the sharing of experiences across national and international academic networks.
UNESCO calls for the involvement of various stakeholders, including policymakers, educators, journalists, digital content creators, and civil society organizations, to strengthen a democratic, informed, and participatory public space.
