UNESCO World Heritage sites in Italy host cultural events
Cultural heritage sites in Italy are hosting special events to celebrate their UNESCO World Heritage status. In the Marche region, the FAI (Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano) is organizing a weekend on September 12 and 13 dedicated to eight UNESCO-listed theaters. This initiative highlights the unique architectural and cultural model of Italian 'condominium theaters' from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Participating venues include the Teatro G. B. Pergolesi in Jesi, Teatro Ventidio Basso in Ascoli Piceno, Teatro Serpente Aureo in Offida, Teatro Lauro Rossi in Macerata, Teatro Feronia in San Severino Marche, and Teatro dell’Aquila in Fermo. The project is a collaborative effort involving the Marche Region and local administrations.
In Puglia, Castel del Monte is marking the 30th anniversary of its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List with a program titled ‘Il Castello dell’Armonia’. Running from September 5 to 12, the event features five meetings blending history with contemporary music, theater, dance, and visual arts. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Andria and Puglia Culture, aims to foster a dialogue between the monument's historical significance and modern creative expressions.
