Unesp researchers trained in disinformation monitoring for Brazil elections

The Communication Laboratory (LabCom) at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) conducted a remote training session for researchers and professors from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) in Brazil. The training focused on the methodology developed by the Observatory of Political Disinformation (ODEPOL) to identify, classify, and analyze disinformation content posted on social media by institutional political actors.

The initiative aims to prepare the Unesp team to monitor disinformation during the 2026 Brazilian elections. By utilizing the established ODEPOL method, researchers intend to adapt the framework to the specific context of Brazilian political communication. This collaboration comes as Brazil faces high political polarization and significant digital disinformation during its electoral processes.
