Unespar to implement Medicine course in Paranavaí
The State University of Paraná (Unespar) has announced details regarding the implementation of a new Medicine course at its Paranavaí campus, which is scheduled to begin in March 2027. Maria Antônia Ramos Costa, the director-general of the campus, presented the plan to the Municipal Chamber, noting that the initiative follows significant community mobilization and academic readiness.
The program will offer 40 full-time spots over a six-year duration. For the initial selection process in November, the university will utilize existing scores from the Enem (20 spots), Aprova Paraná (12 spots), and quota policy criteria (8 spots), rather than holding a specific entrance exam. Registration is set to open on November 11.
The State Government has allocated R$ 62.7 million for the project, covering laboratory improvements, equipment acquisition, and academic infrastructure expansion. Currently, 90% of the doctoral professors required for the first year have been identified. The university has also established partnerships with local health institutions to support practical training and clinical activities.
