Unexpected Italy partners with The Guardian to feature Puglia's BAT province

The British newspaper The Guardian has partnered with the travel-tech startup Unexpected Italy to feature the Barletta-Andria-Trani (BAT) province in Puglia. This reportage aims to highlight lesser-known Italian regions that remain outside the primary international tourism circuits, such as Salento or the Valle d’Itria.

Founded by Elisabetta Faggiana and Savio Losito, Unexpected Italy focuses on independent local operators, including artisans, farmers, and restaurateurs. The startup describes these individuals as ‘Ribelli con le Radici’ (Rebels with Roots), noting their ability to innovate while maintaining deep connections to local traditions and the community. The initiative seeks to promote sustainable tourism by directing interest toward authentic cultural identities and local production.
