Unexploded artillery shell found at Çanakkale beach

An unexploded artillery shell, believed to date back to the Çanakkale Wars of 1915, was discovered by swimmers at a public beach in the Kepez district of Çanakkale.

A citizen spotted the metal object underwater and brought it to the shore. Following the report, security forces from the Çanakkale Provincial Police Department arrived at the scene. Bomb disposal experts cordoned off a wide area of the beach with security tape to ensure public safety and took possession of the historic ammunition.

The shell was transported to the Kepez Police Station for further examination. Despite the security measures and the presence of police, some bystanders reportedly continued to swim in the area.
