UNFPA expands maternal health and family planning initiatives
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is collaborating with various regional partners to enhance maternal and reproductive health services.
In Bangladesh, Sweden and the UNFPA have partnered to improve maternal and newborn healthcare. A central component of this initiative is Bangladesh’s commitment to creating 25,000 new midwifery posts within its primary healthcare network. The partnership aims to integrate professional midwives into primary health systems and expand access to quality services during pregnancy and childbirth.
In Nigeria, the UNFPA is supporting Bauchi State in delivering effective family planning programs. Through stakeholder training on a human rights-based approach, the initiative seeks to ensure women and girls can access reproductive health services and exercise their rights within health facilities.
