UNFPA offers $4.5 million for maternal health in Nigeria

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has announced a $4.5 million match fund offer for Nigeria to address funding gaps for contraceptives and life-saving maternal health medicines. Kwara State is designated as one of the benefiting states under this initiative.

Muriel Mafico, the UNFPA Resident Representative to Nigeria, commended Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his administration's investments in human capital development, inclusive growth, and maternal and child health. Mafico noted that the matching funds are available provided there is evidence of procurement for reproductive health supplies. The announcement was made during a visit to Ilorin, where the UN delegation met with the Governor and several state commissioners.
