Unhealthy diets linked to extreme blood sugar spikes and severe health complications
Medical experts are warning about the severe health consequences of long-term unhealthy dietary habits, specifically regarding blood sugar regulation.
In Vietnam, a 30-year-old man passed away after falling into a deep coma due to blood sugar levels reaching 35 mmol/L. Investigations revealed a decade-long habit of consuming sugary drinks, fried foods, and refined flour products for breakfast, lacking fiber and adequate protein.
Similarly, in China, a man in his 40s experienced severe vision loss after his blood sugar levels exceeded 400 mg/dL. Medical examinations revealed ruptured retinal microvessels. Nutritionist Liu Yahui noted that the patient's diet frequently included bread, fried foods, and sweetened beverages.
Health professionals advise limiting three specific food groups to prevent metabolic disorders and insulin resistance: sugary drinks (including sodas and sweetened smoothies), fried foods (such as fried chicken and donuts), and refined sweets or biscuits. To manage blood sugar effectively, experts recommend prioritizing dark leafy greens and high-fiber foods.
