UNI hosts mining congress in Peru with 1,200 participants
The XIX National Congress of Mining Engineering Students (CONEIMIN UNI 2026) is convening at the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI) in Peru. Running from August 24 to 29, the event brings together over 1,200 students, professionals, and industry representatives to discuss the future of the mining sector.
The congress focuses on technological transformation, including artificial intelligence, Mining 5.0, automation, and sustainability. Key industry players such as Buenaventura, Volcan, Southern Perú, and Newmont Perú are expected to participate. The event occurs as Peru manages a significant mining portfolio, with the Ministry of Energy and Mines reporting 66 investment projects valued at US$64.075 billion and 69 exploration projects worth US$757 million.
