Unicaja reports 39% surge in mortgage production in first half
Spanish lender Unicaja said its mortgage business grew 39% in the first six months of the year, reaching €2.093 billion in new loans. The total mortgage portfolio stood at €29.659 billion at the end of June, while overall credit production rose 5.6% to €6.412 billion, bringing total credit assets to €49.941 billion. CEO Isidro Rubiales emphasized that mortgages remain a core product for the bank and help retain customers, but declined to comment on the CNMC’s ongoing investigation into possible collusion among major Spanish banks or on potential AI impacts on employment.
A separate guide for Chilean consumers explains how to use mortgage‑credit simulators, outlines key variables such as interest‑rate type, loan term, down‑payment size and the CAE (annual equivalent charge), and compares the typical 80‑90% financing ratios offered by banks, cooperatives and mutual societies.
