UNICEF and Vietnam Ministry launch clean air initiative for youth

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in collaboration with UNICEF Vietnam, held a closing ceremony for the ‘Action for Clean Air and a Sustainable Future’ program. The initiative, which responded to International Day of Clean Air for blue skies 2026, focused on communication and education regarding air quality, the environment, and climate change.

Two major components of the program, the ‘Young Creativity - Action for Clean Air’ competition and the ‘I Tell Air Stories’ creative challenge, attracted nearly 1 million children and adolescents. These activities provided young participants with opportunities to learn about air quality, share their perspectives, and propose practical solutions to environmental issues.

UNICEF Vietnam highlighted that air pollution and climate change pose significant challenges to the economy, health, and daily life. While children and youth are not the primary causes of environmental pollution, they are among the groups most severely affected by environmental risks, particularly in major urban centers like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City where pollution levels can reach concerning heights.
