UNICEF establishes Business Advisory Council in North Macedonia

UNICEF has established a Business Advisory Council (BAC) in North Macedonia to promote children's rights and well-being through responsible business practices, innovation, and partnerships. The council brings together prominent business leaders who will volunteer their expertise to strengthen private sector engagement in supporting children and families.

The council members include Nebi Hodža (Oxa Group), Irena Jakimovska (Comfi Angel), Goran Marković (Makedonski Telekom), Živko Mukatov (Alkaloid), Ivan Šteriev (Macedonian Stock Exchange), and Marjonka Veljanovska (Pharmachem). They will participate in their personal capacities to identify opportunities for improving conditions for children.

Leslie Miller, the UNICEF representative in North Macedonia, noted that the council's involvement is crucial for ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Early childhood education and care have been identified as the initial areas for collaborative action.
