UNICEF expands health support initiatives in Nigeria
UNICEF is engaging in various health-focused initiatives across Nigeria. In Kaduna State, UNICEF and the Society for Family Health (SFH) are collaborating with the state government to support adolescent girls living in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) communities. During International Adolescent Health Week, relief materials including food, sanitary pads, malaria drugs, and educational supplies were distributed in the Mararraban Rido area of Chikun Local Government Area.
In Anambra State, UNICEF is exploring a partnership with the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) to bolster HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care. Scheduled to begin in early 2027, the collaboration aims to improve maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health services. The partnership will focus on community-based disease surveillance and strengthening links between local communities and health facilities to reduce preventable maternal and newborn deaths.
