UNICEF expands humanitarian efforts across Nigeria

UNICEF and the United Nations are intensifying efforts in Nigeria to address child safety, healthcare, and trauma recovery. In Borno State, UN officials have called for stronger protections for schools and urgent action to secure the release of children abducted in the region, emphasizing that educational spaces must remain safe for development.

In Kwara State, UNICEF is advocating for integrated, community-led recovery programs to provide psychosocial support for survivors of kidnappings in the Woro community. The initiative aims to help victims overcome trauma and reintegrate into society through mental health services and community-based support.

Additionally, in Kano State, UNICEF has handed over the renovated and expanded DISO Primary Healthcare Centre to the State Primary Healthcare Management Board. Supported by the Global Fund, this project is part of a broader effort to improve healthcare infrastructure and ensure better access to essential medical services for women, children, and families.
