UNICEF launches child‑protection campaign in Costa Rica during World Cup
UNICEF Costa Rica introduced the “Un gol por la infancia” campaign, timed with the FIFA World Cup to draw attention and funds for protecting children and adolescents from violence, abuse, bullying and digital risks. The initiative seeks monthly donations of as little as ₡500 and will channel resources into school‑based prevention programs, safe spaces, early‑risk detection and psychosocial support.
Former footballer Paulo César Wanchope joined as a UNICEF Friend, helping spread the message and promote values of respect, solidarity and child safety. The campaign links the teamwork of football to collective action for vulnerable youth, urging the public to become part of a protective “team” for Costa Rican children.
