UNICEF partners with Argentine and Spanish municipalities to strengthen child rights

In Concordia, Argentina, municipal officials, the provincial Ministry of Human Development and UNICEF Argentina’s Municipal United for Children and Adolescents (MUNA) met to deepen cooperation on child‑focused public policies. Mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the partnership as a way to improve resource efficiency and policy delivery, while provincial minister Verónica Berisso and UNICEF coordinator Teresita Vargas emphasized the priority of early childhood, healthy environments and disability inclusion.

In Castilla y León, Spain, the regional federation of municipalities (FRMP) and UNICEF Castilla y León renewed the ‘Ciudades Amigas de la Infancia’ accreditation for eight local entities, including Carrión de los Condes and the Diputación de Palencia. The ceremony recognized the municipalities’ commitment to children's rights, participation and well‑being, and urged other towns to seek the designation. UNICEF’s regional head Eugenia García Rincón stressed the importance of listening to children and giving them a voice in decisions that affect them.
