UNICEF project improves menstrual hygiene in Bolivia

UNICEF representatives have highlighted the positive impact of a decentralized sustainable sanitation project on the menstrual hygiene of girls and adolescents in Bolivia. The initiative involves the construction of Family Sanitary Modules (Mosafas), also known as ecological toilets.

Jimena de León, a UNICEF consultant, noted that these adequate sanitary spaces improve hygiene and well-being for girls during their menstrual periods by providing greater privacy, security, and hygiene. Luis Fernando Vaca, the municipal secretary of the Environment, stated that these projects improve family sanitary conditions while incorporating environmental sustainability criteria.
