UNICEF renovates three healthcare facilities in Katsina

UNICEF has renovated and handed over three primary healthcare facilities to the Katsina State Government in Nigeria to improve medical accessibility for women, children, and vulnerable populations.

The renovation projects, implemented with support from the Global Fund, include the Maternal and Child Health Centre (MCHC) in Bakiyawa (Batagarawa Local Government Area), the Sabon Gari Primary Health Centre in Daura, and the Dandutse Primary Health Centre in Funtua.

During the handover, UNICEF Health Manager Dr. Serekeberehan Seyoum emphasized that the sustainability of these upgrades depends on the Katsina State Primary Health Care Agency ensuring adequate staffing, regular maintenance, and a consistent supply of essential medicines. The responsibility for the management and utilization of these facilities has been officially transferred to the state agency.
