Unicharm acquires Brazilian pet food maker Nutrire to enter Brazil's pet care market

Unicharm Corporation announced it will acquire 100% of Nutrire Indústria de Alimentos Ltda., a Brazilian pet food manufacturer. The deal marks Unicharm's full‑scale entry into Brazil, the world’s third‑largest pet care market, which is projected to grow more than 10% annually.

The acquisition aligns with Unicharm’s 13th Mid‑Term Management Plan “Project‑Renaissance” (2026‑2030), which identifies wellness and pet care as key growth pillars. Unicharm, which launched its pet care business in 1986 and offers nutrition and waste‑management products, will combine Nutrire’s premium pet‑food production capabilities, advanced technology and regional export network with its own marketing and R&D strengths to expand across Central and South America.

Founded in 2001, Nutrire controls the entire pet‑food production process from raw‑material selection to manufacturing and sales, and supplies premium products throughout Brazil and neighboring countries. Unicharm operates in more than 80 countries across baby, feminine, wellness and pet‑care categories under the brand promise “Love Your Possibilities.”
