Unicoop Firenze launches educational forests in Tuscan schools
Unicoop Firenze has initiated a project to establish educational forests at primary schools in Tuscany, including the Peruzzi school in Sovicille and the Michelet school in Bagno a Ripoli. The initiative involves planting approximately 30 new forest plants and shrubs at each location, transforming school gardens into open-air classrooms and small biodiversity reserves.
Developed in collaboration with local municipalities and Coop member sections, the project aims to integrate environmental protection and nature care into the students' educational journeys. Following the initial planting, classes will participate in daily interaction, study, and maintenance of the new green spaces to foster sensitivity toward environmental issues and the respect of common heritage.
This initiative is part of the 2026/2027 educational programs promoted by Unicoop Firenze across Tuscan schools, focusing on themes such as culture, solidarity, environment, food, and social relations.
